The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for popular Ghanaian boxer Ayittey Powers following allegations of issuing a death threat against the head of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

The development comes on the back of a video currently circulating on various social media platforms.

In the said footage, the controversial boxer is allegedly heard issuing a stern warning and threatening to “gun down” the NSA chief. Law enforcement officials have since taken a keen interest in the footage, treating the utterances as a severe threat to life and public security.

Reports indicate that the grim threat is directly linked to a long-running dispute between the boxer and the sports authority.

The disagreement reportedly stems from frustrations over the initial cancellation and the subsequent approval of boxing promotions organised by Ayittey Powers.
B
The back-and-forth administrative decisions appear to have infuriated the boxer, culminating in the alleged social media outburst.

Authorities have intensified efforts to apprehend Ayittey Powers to assist with ongoing investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the video.

The public has been urged to remain calm while the police handle the matter in accordance with the law, ensuring the safety of the NSA boss and all parties involved.
