Aggrieved customers of the defunct Gold Coast Fund Management have staged a fresh demonstration in Accra, marching to the seat of government to present a formal petition regarding their outstanding investments.
The affected investors converged at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Osu before marching to the Presidency at Jubilee House, where they officially submitted their demands.
The demonstration highlights the ongoing plight of customers whose funds have remained inaccessible since 2018. Eight years on, the prolonged lock-up continues to cause severe financial distress for affected individuals and families.
Speaking to journalists during the gathering, Charles Nyame, Convener of the Aggrieved Customers of Gold Coast Fund Management, stated that the group is seeking urgent government intervention to help recover their life savings.
He explained that their latest action was triggered after the demand for a full budgetary allocation to settle all validated claims was omitted from the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review.
According to Mr. Nyame, taking their grievances directly to the Presidency marks a renewed escalation of pressure on the state following years of unfulfilled promises.
He revealed that while total validated claims originally exceeded GH¢5.5 billion, partial disbursements have been made over the years. This included an initial payment tranche in 2023–2024 and a GH¢700 million release in September 2024. However, he emphasized that these partial releases should not be mistaken for a full settlement of the government’s obligation.
“The GH¢1.5 billion that she mentioned was there. There were some payments that were made in 2023, even in 2024. That was also paid as part of the GH¢5.5 billion,” Mr Nyame said.
“This GH¢700 million released also paid part of that same amount. So, we are talking about, in fact, GH¢3.6 billion. This doesn’t even scratch against that,” he told joyrnists.
