According to the statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, “The appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 14(1) of the Value for Money Office Act, 2026 (Act 1172).”

Dr. Aziz-Bamba, a Harvard-trained lawyer, served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law prior to his new role.

Clarifying the nature of the tenure, the statement noted that “Dr. Aziz-Bamba will serve in an acting capacity pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the Governing Board, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”

The creation and operationalisation of the Value for Money Office form part of broader government efforts to safeguard national resources and maintain fiscal discipline across state institutions.

Detailing the core objective of the body, the Presidency stated that “The Value for Money Office is mandated to ensure that every cedi of public expenditure serves the public good.”

Highlighting the significance of the move, Felix Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that “His appointment marks an important step towards operationalising the Office, strengthening scrutiny of public spending, curbing waste and ensuring that public expenditure delivers tangible benefits to Ghanaians.”
