Security personnel at the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum have apprehended a suspected thief who allegedly disguised himself as a staff member to steal an iPhone 16 belonging to a nurse on duty.
The suspect managed to gain access to the healthcare facility’s restricted staff areas by posing as an employee, smoothly blending in with regular health workers to avoid suspicion.
Eye-witnesses reported that he subsequently targeted a duty nurse, stole her high-end smartphone, and attempted to make a quick exit. However, alert hospital staff and security officers spotted the suspicious activity and intercepted him before he could flee the premises.
He was immediately apprehended and handed over to the local police service to assist with ongoing investigations.
Authorities at the hospital have since assured the public and staff that internal security measures are being reviewed to prevent similar breaches in the facility. Police investigations remain active.
