The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Honourable Rudolf Collingwood Williams, has stated that internal cracks within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have deepened significantly following its recent internal elections.
According to him, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) remains far ahead of the NPP in terms of organization, unity, and performance, stressing that the NDC does not look up to the opposition party in any regard.
”If you examine what transpired during their internal elections, it is clear that the cracks within the NPP are wider now than ever before,” Hon. Williams stated. “The NDC is far ahead in organization, discipline, and unity. We are focused on our delivery, and we do not look up to the opposition party for direction.”
Honourable Williams made these remarks while offering counsel to NDC members, executives, and party faithful ahead of the NDC’s upcoming internal elections.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio’s Weekend Show, the MCE called for calm within the party ranks and urged all contestants and their supporters to conduct clean, issue-based campaigns. He reminded members that while internal elections are competitive, the ultimate goal remains the 2028 general elections.
”This is purely an internal family contest. No matter the outcome, we will need every single member on board after these elections to secure victory in 2028,” he advised. “We must avoid personal attacks, character assassination, and divisive acts that create bitterness. Our internal processes should strengthen the NDC, not weaken it.”
Honourable Williams further highlighted the government’s strong performance, noting that major international bodies, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), have recognized and commended the country’s pace of economic growth and recovery.
”The government is delivering on its mandate, and key institutions like the IMF have acknowledged our economic progress,” he added. “Instead of turning our energies against one another, our members should be out there in the communities, actively communicating the government’s achievements and spreading the good news of our progress to Ghanaians.”
He concluded by stressing that unity, discipline, and effective communication of the party’s achievements will be critical to sustaining the NDC’s momentum ahead of future electoral contests.
