The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened the application process for members seeking to contest as parliamentary candidates for the 2028 general elections. The party announced that the decision marks the formal commencement of its candidate selection across all 276 constituencies.
Interested party members are required to submit their declarations online via ppc.nppghana.org between Sunday, 1st November and Tuesday, 10th November 2026. The party emphasized that no submissions will be considered outside this designated window, and each applicant must pay a non-refundable fee of GHC 5,000.00.
In a statement signed by the Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the party noted that all prospective candidates will undergo a screening process. Sitting Members of Parliament are not exempt from the requirements, as the rules apply universally across the party.
“This marks the formal beginning of the Party’s journey to select credible, competent and committed candidates who will carry the Party’s flag in all 276 constituencies,” Aboagye stated, adding that a structured process has been designed to ensure a level playing field.
The party further reminded aspirants that expressing interest does not permit them to start campaigning. The existing directive banning all campaign activities remains in force until official clearance is granted, with any violations subject to sanctions under the party’s constitution.
Following the vetting process, the NPP plans to organize capacity-building workshops in December 2026 for aspirants across the Northern, Middle, and Southern zones. Further details regarding the vetting timetable and workshop locations will be released through official party channels in due course.
