Dr Akwasi Opong-Fosu, an aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is scheduled to take his “Consolidating the Gains” campaign to the Oti Region for a two-day engagement with party executives and grassroots members.
The tour, scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, to Thursday, November 5, 2026, forms part of his nationwide campaign to lead the party. It follows engagements with NDC members and grassroots executives in the Volta Region, according to a statement issued by his campaign team.

The statement, dated November 3, 2026, was signed by Hon. Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, Convener of the AOF4C Campaign Team. It outlined plans to use the Oti Region visit to deepen discussions on party organisation, unity, and preparations for future elections.
During the visit, Dr Opong-Fosu is expected to meet regional, constituency, and branch executives, as well as party elders, cadres, youth and women organisers, and other key stakeholders.

The meetings will provide an opportunity for participants to raise concerns about the party and share their perspectives on its direction. Dr Opong-Fosu will also outline his vision for the NDC and discuss the priorities underpinning his bid for the national chairmanship.
According to the campaign team, the engagements are part of his commitment to strengthening the party from the grassroots and promoting greater unity across its structures.

The statement said the broader objective is to position the NDC to retain political power in 2028 and beyond through stronger organisation and the active involvement of members at every level.
A central focus of the tour will be Dr Opong-Fosu’s 3Vs agenda—Votes, Voice, and Viability.

The campaign team said discussions around the agenda will emphasise grassroots inclusion, effective party organisation, and the empowerment of members throughout the party’s structures. These priorities form the basis of the vision he intends to share with stakeholders during the Oti engagements.
By combining discussions with regional leaders and interactions with constituency and branch representatives, the planned visit is intended to bring different levels of the party into the campaign’s conversation about its future.

The team said listening to members’ concerns would be a key part of the engagements, alongside presenting Dr Opong-Fosu’s proposals for building a stronger and more united NDC.
Consolidating the party’s gains The statement described Dr Opong-Fosu as a founding member of the NDC with decades of political and public service experience.

It said he remained committed to protecting the legacy of President John Dramani Mahama and consolidating the gains of his administration. The campaign linked that commitment to its broader ambition of building a united, well-organised, and election-ready party.

Under the “Consolidating the Gains” theme, the Oti Region tour will therefore focus on both the party’s internal strength and its longer-term electoral objectives, according to the campaign team.

The team expressed optimism about meaningful and productive engagements with NDC members across the region as Dr Opong-Fosu continues his nationwide campaign for the national chairmanship.
