Communications Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Charles Obeng Amofah has disclosed that the outfit is engaging the military to provide security at our various sports stadiums to help enforce the safety protocols during matches.
Speaking to Rainbow Sports on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said the NSA would enforce the safety protocols to help prevent any spread of the virus during matches.
He stated that the NSA has put in place measures in all the stadiums for the league and supporters and teams must adhere strictly to them.
The President in his 23rd Address asked the NSA and the Ghana Football Association to ensure compliance with the twenty-five percent (25%) capacity rule in our stadia, with spectators respecting the social distancing rule and wearing of masks.
Reacting to this, the PRO said they would have to protect this and in protecting this, all the protocols.
He said pubs, clubs and other facilities did not get this opportunity hence the sports fraternity should be protected by these guidelines.
He said at every point in our sports facilities, there are veronica buckets, temperature checking stands and other facilities to examine people who enter the stadium.
He referenced the ban on Accra Hearts of Oak of playing all matches behind closed doors after breaking coronavirus safety protocols during Saturday’s 2-0 derby defeat to Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League.
The club has also been hauled before the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee.
The PRO further explained the spikes in our cases is not something we have to joke with.
”Coronavirus is not a joke. We don’t have to joke with it. The cases are increasing and the NSA will not joke with it. We are engaging other security services including the military to provide security in our stadiums during matches. Our stadiums could be a breeding ground for spreading the virus and anyone who would disregard the safety protocols would be dealt with.”
