“Tertiary education was not part of the mandate but the board realizing the potentials of some of the children decided to sponsor them to the tertiary level,” he explained.
He told the host that the children were 148 out of which the majority of them are in SHS.
He said: ”currently they left with 21 who are yet to comp[elet school with 15 in the university and 5 in SHS and another one at the NVTI pursuing vocational education.
He was hopeful the 5 in SHS would perform well so they can also go to the university.
He refuted claims that the fund has refused to cater for the children of the victims of the disaster.
“The board will continue to make strenuous efforts to ensure that as many of the children receive tertiary education”, Mr. Annan stressed.
