It pains me more than anything representing Ghana – Godwin Frimpong

October 27, 2022

Ghana Bodybuilder, three times Man Ghana champion and Arnold Classic African champion, Godwin Frimpong, has said that it pains him more than anything to represent his nation on the World stage.

Frimpong believes that the government has failed to assist them with the needed support when they compete at the world level.

Government must fund World Cup fan travel as corporate bodies lack capacity to act alone – Fmr Minister

Speaking to the media at the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association’s press conference ahead of the 2022 Man Ghana Competition scheduled on November 12, the Bodybuilder said,

“I was the Captain of Ghana Bodybuilding for five years, and the Government of Ghana did nothing for Ghana Bodybuilding during my captainship.” This year has been the most difficult. It hurts me more than anything else in my career to have finished representing this country because, despite all of the promises that the Sports Minister has made to us, National Sports also promises Ghc10,000, but we haven’t received any.”

“We brought two gold medals last year, and bodybuilders contribute more than eight medals every year.” The twenty-four-man squad football team brings one trophy while we bring several, it’s a shame, a big shame. I bow my head in shame whenever I represent Ghana anywhere in the world.”

“We paid our own way to Fujairah for a World Championship.” We must fight our exclusivity in order to add what we have to represent our country. It’s a real shame.”
