An author, Communication consultant, and international relations analyst, Ahmed Osman Halid has described former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu as bitter, petty and someone is jealous of Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The man who associates with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says Martin Amidu must desist from his attacks on people through his epistles.
He was responding to the latest epistle, authored by Martin Amidu, in which he described the Speaker as ‘village chief’ over some comments he had made.
Bagbin, according to Amidu in an opinion piece, has a habit of bullying Members of Parliament by touting his long experience in Parliament.
“Mr. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin needs to be told to stop talking down on Ghanaians as though he is a village chief and we, his subjects.”
“No humble, learned, erudite, and experienced person will ever seek to silence his critics in a constitutional democracy by telling them that: ‘In all humility, please note that there is deep thought in whatever I do. Don’t underrate my knowledge, skills, experience, and expertise in Parliamentary practice and procedure.”
But Halid is of a different opinion. He said ”Martin Amidu is not a saint. You cannot say what you said about the Speaker with all respect. He is a member of the NDC and I am a member of the NPP, but at the end of the day, he [Bagbin], has won an election as the Speaker. And from that perspective, the Speaker has exhibited some qualities of impartiality, neutrality, fairness and balance.
Whether you like it or not, Bagbin is an asset to parliamentary democracy in this dispensation. He has seen it all. He came in as MP and had gone through all the ranks, and he is now the Speaker.”
He said Martin Amidu, have easy access to the Speaker and could have gone to him instead of writing unprintable words about him.
He [Amidu] ”must be told that most of the articles he writes about people are not fair, are not objective, and most of them expose him as a bitter person”.
He insisted that we cannot write the success story of Ghana’s parliamentary without mentioning the name of Alban Bagbin.
He was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
