The Ghana Grid Company has informed the public through a statement that a system disturbance occurred on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
According to the company, the outage occurred after GRIDCo’s 33kV Aboadze-Anwomaso line tripped followed by a number of lines in the western corridor of the grid triggering a system disturbance and causing all thermal plants and Bui generators and customer loads to trip.
It said a raging bushfire under GRIFCo’s volta lines near Taekwa has been identified as the source of 5the power trips.
Currently, servicemen are at the scene to bring the fire under control.
It apologised for the power outage and assured the general public that the situation was been handled and power would be restored soon.
