Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, claims that the military has killed seven people in the area.
The MP stated in a statement that the seven people were allegedly killed by the military following several reports of gunfire across Bawku Township on Tuesday evening.
He claimed that in an effort to maintain calm and discipline, the military fired indiscriminately into locals fleeing for cover.
The MP went on to say that the military also attacked innocent people, killing seven people.
A small boy was among the seven who died after a grass near where he was hiding caught fire and burned him to death.
“Let me condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the infliction of mortal casualties on innocent civilians by members of the Ghana Armed Forces in Bawku today. This is totally unacceptable and I will leave no stone unturned in my fight for redress for these victims,” Mr Ayariga said.
