A suspected thief has been apprehended by police in the Eastern Region.
Peter Malik, 29, was apprehended at Kyebi Okanta.
He was arrested on suspicion of involvement in a string of burglaries in the area.
Items recovered from him included travel bags, watches, mobile phones, clothes, school uniforms, and laptop computers, a bible, among other things.
Some residents complained that several of their belongings had been stolen, and praised the police for apprehending the suspect.
According to them, the area is known for such activities, and the police must do everything possible to apprehend anyone involved in criminal activity in the area.
According to new information, the suspect first appeared in the area and went to a prayer camp where he claimed to be going to pray.
When a resident approached him, the suspect claimed he was there to see his grandmother.
Later, he informed the man that he was hungry and in need of food.
The local resident gave him Ghc10 cedis to buy food.
He was not seen again until the next dawn when he returned to rob several homes in the area.
He was apprehended while attempting to hail a taxi to transport the items he allegedly stole.
Meanwhile, a relative who was contacted about the incident stated that she does not care if Peter Malik is imprisoned.
The suspect’s grandmother stated that he had stolen from her several times and does not care if he is imprisoned for the crime he committed.
