The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, says he has successfully petitioned the World Bank and World Bank Office Ghana to investigate an alleged scandal.
The MP wants the World Bank to investigate what he termed as the litany of irregularities, misrepresentation, insider dealing & conflict of interest relating to the US$48 million Ascend Scandal.
It is the case of the MP that the deal was used to fraudulently secure a US$49.5 million World Bank funded eTransform project which was also awarded to Ascend under an AirtelTigo/Ascend JV.
The MP posted this on Facebook and attached some documents to it.
He wrote ”Yesterday, I successfully petitioned the World Bank & World Bank Ghana Office to launch investigations into the litany of irregularities, misrepresentation, insider dealing & conflict of interest relating to the US$48million Ascend Scandal and how that was used to fraudulently secure a US$49.5million World Bank funded eTransform project which was also awarded to Ascend under an AirtelTigo/Ascend JV.”
