If elected president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to make at least ten appointments to party members in each constituency.
The second gentleman of the land stated that this initiative was well planned in response to several complaints from the grassroots that the party after winning power neglects them during government formation after they helped their parties win power.
Dr. Bawumia told NPP delegates in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East Constituency ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries that all 275 constituencies in the country will have the opportunity to be represented in a Bawumia-led administration.
“Party members at the grass root tell me that when their party is elected to form a government, they are excluded from the governance processes.”
“That is why I am proposing three initiatives, which I believe, if implemented effectively, will help to integrate the party and the government.” The first is scheduled appointments. Whenever there are appointments, the constituencies usually complain that they were left out.”
“So, what I will do is that in governance, a president can make about 7,000 appointments, and we have 275 constituencies, which we will add one more next year to make them 276, so my plan is that some of the 7,000 appointees will come from the constituencies.”
“My proposal is for one constituency to have ten appointments.” This will result in a total of 2,760 appointments for all constituencies, he added.
