The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has responded to the circulation of a pictorial image of an unregistered bottled mineral water, SLIMFIT mineral water, on the Ghanaian market.
This was after social media was awash with two brands of water with the same branding but different names.
The two brands of water were SLIMFIT and SLEMFIT.
Consumers wanted to know if the two brands of water were from the same company or if there was a fake one.
The FDA has clarified that the one they have registered and approved is SLEMFIT, which is manufactured or produced by Twellium Industrial Company Limited.
According to the FDA, it is working to have the unregistered brand removed from the Ghanaian market.
The FDA takes this opportunity to advise the public not to patronise unregistered products as their safety and quality cannot be ascertained. Therefore, this publication is urging all consumers to be vigilant when buying packaged products and report any suspicious products to the FDA for the necessary regulatory action to be taken.”
