Squarters of Gbagbasete, a coastal community in the Greater Accra Region, have turned the beachside into a rubbish dump.
The beach, which is also a slum for over 500 slum dwellers, has lost its beauty and touch.
The filth at the beach could also be a health crisis if authorities do not address the issue immediately.
Filth has engulfed the entire beach area.
The dwellers also practice open defecation at the beach.
At the time Rainbowradioonline.com visited the area, children, adults, and the elderly were openly defecating.
The squatters are predominantly fishermen.
Some others operate mini bars and drug-peddling hubs, among other illegal activities there.
Some others also run ranches there, raising cattle, sheep, and other farm animals.
There is also the traditional abattoir, where the operators use abandoned car tyres to burn the animals slaughtered.
Beach lovers will not be able to enjoy the natural breeze when they visit, as they will be confronted with human excreta along the beach and filth.
Despite the health hazards, some of the squatters prepare food and sell it to the general public.
Several other cold stores, shops, and other traders operate along the streets of the area, which is just opposite the National Fire Training Academy.
The area is also a few metres away from James Town, Bukom, and other joining communities.
A fire outbreak last week destroyed several wooden structures in the area.
The structures served as shops, rooms, and other facilities for the dwellers.
Some of the affected victims at the time of the visit were working on rebuilding their destroyed structures.
