The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has conferred Ghanaian citizenship status on American musician and songwriter Stevie Wonder.
The President conferred Ghanaian citizenship on the musician at a brief ceremony held at the Jubilee House.
He has expressed gratitude to the President for the honour done to him.
“I guess it’s just the lineage I felt in Ghana; I felt my civilisation was there, and I was there where it began. So, I thank all of you so very much. I always say this is the beginning; [the best part of the rest of my life] got to do what God’s promised,” he stated.
Mr. Wonder is in Ghana with his family.
He will hold both his American citizenship and that of Ghana.
