Fante Rap God, Kofi Kinaati, has revealed that the first track, ‘Auntie Ama’, on his seven-track EP, holds a special place in his heart as it is dedicated to his beloved mother.
The musician said all seven tracks are special, but ‘Auntie Ama’ is one that he cherishes.
In an interview with Sokoohemaa Kukua on the Midmorning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said the song chronicles the advice his mother gave him as a child.
Narrating the inspiration behind the song, he noted that growing up, he was a stubborn child, and that got his mom worried.
He explained that the mother kept warning him to be a good child, respect his elders, do what was right, and most importantly, concentrate on his education so he would become a responsible man.
He claimed that his mother repeatedly told him that if he did not listen to her, she would die, and he (Kinaati) would struggle to survive since there would be no one to amuse his intransigence.
“Auntie AMA chronicles the advice my mother gave me while growing up. My mother’s worry was that I was so stubborn, and that troubled her a lot. She was so worried that if I did not change, I would find it difficult to survive because nobody could handle me or entertain my stubbornness. So she kept asking me to change, concentrate on my studies, and avoid bad friends. When I was six years old, she told me she would die and leave me, but she is still alive today. So that is the inspiration behind this song, which has a special place in my heart, he added.
Kofi Kinaata has released his highly anticipated EP, ‘Kofi oo Kofi’.
The EP marks the musician’s seventh year in the industry.
He announced the release of the track on social media on May 10, 2024.
