Andrew Kofi Cudjoe, a member of the hip-life duo Keche, has expressed his complete support for his wife, Joana Gyan, as she seeks election as a Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket.
According to the musician, nothing will make him support any other person when his beloved wife is contesting.
Known as Keche Andrew, he said wherever the wife goes politically, he is willing to support her no matter the consequences.
Keche Andrew tied the knot with Joana Gyan, the CEO of the Golden Empire Legacy record label, in 2019.
Speaking on the Midmorning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said the wife would do the same for him, so he is not worried about what people will say.
He told the host Sokoohemaa Kukua that “I would have to support her irrespective of the party. Assuming she can just change and go to the NPP today, I will support her. Whether I like it or not, I have to support her. Do you think I have to vote for somebody else when she is contesting? She would have done the same thing for me if I were in her position.”
When asked if this would not affect his career as a musician, he said every individual is entitled to their political affiliations, and we must be tolerant of each other.
He disagreed that Ghanaians would abandon him because of his choice to support his wife.
He said the people were too mature to do that because we all have the opportunity to choose the political party we want.
The bottom line he noted was that we are one people, Ghanaians, and partisan politics should not divide us.
“Ghanians are really mature now. People no longer attacked you because you backed a political party as a creative person. You must belong to one. Everyone has the right to go wherever they desire.
There are people out there who have shown support for political parties, and things are going well for them. At the end of the day, we are one people, and we should not get angry because someone chose to uppity a political party.”
