The Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, has admonished the military to uphold strict political neutrality before, during, and after the 2024 December polls.
The minister says the primary responsibility is to protect the nation’s integrity.
Mr. Nitiwul said this in a speech at the Republic Day lecture hosted by the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College on Monday, July 1, 2024.
He advised them not to engage in what he described as partisan involvement, adding, “The military is the last bastion of our country’s hope.”
He suggested that the country would suffer consequences should the military align with any political party.
This, he stressed, could undermine the very foundation of democracy.
This event marks the launch of a series of public lectures planned by the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
