The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened nominations for aspiring candidates who want to contest in the parliamentary primary in the Manhyia South constituency.

The party has opened nominations to find a replacement for its Member of Parliament, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who has been officially announced as running for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
According to the party’s statement, nominations for aspiring parliamentary candidates (APCs) will begin on Monday, July 8, 2024, with a deadline for submission set for Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
The election day is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2024.

All aspiring candidates are to pick up their nomination forms after paying a non-refundable application fee of GHC3,000 in bankers draft payable to the NPP National Headquarters in Accra.
The aspiring candidates are also requested to pay a non-refundable filing fee of GHC 35,000 in Bankers Draft to ensure full compliance with the nomination procedures.

The party has, however, given candidates who are women and persons living with disabilities a 50% rebate on the filing fees.
They will pay a non-refundable fee of GHC 17,500.
The statement clarified that persons classified as youth are those falling within the age bracket of 18 to 40.

The Elections Committee (EC) designated for overseeing the electoral process comprises seven key persons, including Chairperson Danquah Smith Butey, Vice Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and Secretary Evans Nimako, among others.
Furthermore, the NPP has sanctioned comprehensive rules and regulations aimed at governing the conduct of the forthcoming parliamentary primary election.
