A 67-year-old traditional priest, Okomfo Amankwaa, has been arrested after food he prepared allegedly caused the death of a client.
The incident occurred in Amoawi, a community within the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The client, Opanin Augustine Amponsah, was allegedly killed after the fetish priest, Okomfo Amankwaa, offered him chicken soup at his shrine.
Speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the son of the deceased Patrick Adusei, said his father went to the fetish priest to seek assistance in mining gold.
He said the father told them he had found gold and wanted a spiritualist to assist him in digging the gold.
“My father informed us he had found gold elsewhere and wanted the spiritual person to help him mine it. So he went to Okomfo Amankwaa to help him, and he consented but later gave my father chicken soup to eat. After eating the soup, my father began complaining of heart and stomach trouble. He died a few minutes later, he claims.
The suspect is in police custody assisting the Police with their investigation.
The family has urged the Ghana Police Service to continue their investigations.
