Speaking at the commissioning, President Akufo-Addo noted that the commissioning of the edifice lies in the broader vision of transforming GNPC into a world-class oil and gas institution.

The commissioned seven-story building is situated on a land area of 11680 m2.

The building complex have public spaces for a 300-seat auditorium, gymnasium, cafeteria, and business centre on the ground floor.

The upper floors will accommodate private office spaces for GNPC and for lease to prospective tenants.

In compliance with the government’s policy of ensuring smart energy efficiency, the office complex is designed with solar ingress and wind direction.

He said the building symbolises his government’s dedication to achieving decentralisation.

He said: “This historic occasion (the commissioning of the operational headquarters of GNPC) marks the fulfillment of a promise I made to the chiefs and people of the Western Region during the 2016 elections, when I was NPP presidential candidate Akufo-Addo. The realisation of the promise is proof of my government’s determination to ensuring that the development and benefits of Ghana’s natural resources are felt by the people whose land and sea contribute so significantly to the nation’s wealth.”

“This state-of-the-art facility is not just a building; it represents the fulfillment of a promise I made during the 2016 elections to decentralize development and ensure that the benefits of our natural resources are felt by the communities that contribute so much to our nation’s wealth. Four years ago, I cut the sod for this project, and today, we celebrate its completion.

This headquarters is strategically positioned to enhance GNPC’s operational efficiency and serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the Western Region. The establishment of this facility will create numerous job opportunities and stimulate local businesses, contributing to the overall prosperity of the region. It also underscores our commitment to building a robust oil and gas sector that drives technological innovation, skills development, and sustainable economic growth.

I extend my deepest gratitude to all who played a part in bringing this project to fruition, from local leaders and contractors to the hardworking people of the Western Region. As we move forward, let us remain dedicated to managing our resources sustainably and promoting local content in the oil and gas industry. Together, we can harness the full potential of our natural resources for the benefit of all Ghanaians.”

The building have a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, and will achieve energy efficiency through the use of solar energy.
