The Kyebi Akwansrah Hene of Nsawam has allegedly been lynched after he was accused of being behind the shooting incident at the Anum Apapm South electoral area in the eastern region.
One person out of three persons died following the shooting incident in the area.
A shooting incident was recorded at Anum Apapam South Electoral Area in the Eastern region in the morning of Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
The chief of the area died recently and was buried, and after his burial, traditional leaders made an attempt to enstool a new chief.
However, the ceremony was characterised by a shooting incident, which the residents accused the chief of orchestrating.
Filing a report on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Prince Collins Bening stated that the community members over the weekend attacked the chief after accusing him of causing the death of a resident.
Prince Collins Bening stated that the chief had to be stripped naked after attempts to fire at him failed.
He reported that the bullets were not penetrating his body; hence, they managed to overcome him, strip him naked, and physically assault him.
It took the swift intervention of the police to stop the youth from attacking any further.
He went on to state that the youth were infuriated by the action of the chief because he brought in his people suspected to be landguards to terrorise the people.
The police have since taken over the matter, investigating it.
