The Board of the National Cathedral Project has announced that the construction of the project will resume.
Board Chair Professor Opoku Onyinah, in a statement addressed to churches and leaders of the Christian community, disclosed that audit firm Delloite has completed its audit of the activities of the board.
The Board Chair in the statement said the board of directors and National Cathedral Ghana met on September 20, 2024, for the auditors to brief the church leaders on the statutory report from the inception of the project.
The board said it had been concerned about the length of time it took to complete the audit, which formerly started in July 2023.
He said upon receipt of the first report, the board was satisfied with the meticulous work done by the audit firm.
According to him, the firm has confirmed and corroborated all receipts and expenditures on the project since it started and also independently confirmed donations received by NCG nationwide and further performed the relevant confirmations from all the financial institutions involved in the project.
“The need for an audit was a key demand by the church leadership and Ghanaians in general to establish the credibility of the implementation of the project. With the completion of this first report, preparations are underway for construction to resume.
“We appreciate your support so far and trust that the completion of the ongoing audit will renew your prayer and financial support for the NCG project.”
