Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, has expressed disappointment in former President John Agyekum Kufour for failing to speak on national issues.

She said it was his responsibility to have spoken to the difficulties confronting the country.

She said as a former president, he did his best for the country, and as someone who had led the country before, he had a responsibility to address some of these issues.

The peace advocate condemned those who have insulted him following his endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

She was, however, disappointed that the former President has not found time to address Ghanaians on some of the core national issues.

She said “the depreciation of the cedi, the poor living conditions of Ghanaians, and the difficulties confronting the people. He has been a former president. He knows what is happening or going on. The cedi keeps depreciating against the dollar. He should have found time to address some of these issues.  He had a responsibility to advise those in charge at the moment to find solutions to the challenges confronting us as a country. Ghanaians are struggling. The living conditions of Ghanaians have worsened. He should have found time to address these issues and advised the current leader.

He ought to have examined what was going on and checked his utterances on some of these issues. I don’t have a problem with him.supporting Bawumia. That is his party member. My challenge is about national issues. He had a responsibility to comment on these issues. I am only talking about the challenges and the economic difficulties. He should speak to the leaders who are in charge today to address the concerns of the people and put in measures for addressing our challenges.”

Meanwhile, she has underscored the need for us to stop the insults, irrespective of the disagreements we have with each other. She stated that the politics of insults is a threat to national development, cohesion, stability, and peace.

She noted that the politics of insults must stop. According to her, this has been a major challenge where some politicians insult their opponents and make all forms of allegations without any basis.
