The Electoral Commission (EC) has called on political parties and the general public to exercise patience as it was still within the legally required time to declare the results due to the presidential election.
Chairperson for the EC, Madam Jean Mensa, addressing a press conference, stated that the polls closed only 23 hours ago, hence the need for the public to remain calm.
She said the official results of the presidential and parliamentary elections would be announced once they have been thoroughly verified.
“We would like to ask that citizens exercise patience as the process has just been 23 hours since the close of polls. Ours is an elaborate process, and it involves the political parties’ agents at every step of the way. We will announce the results if they are ready before 72 hours.”
She also confirmed that the EC has results from only the Ahafo Region and is awaiting results from the 15 other regions.
