Akufo-Addo is a failed president with the worst record in history—Donyina Mensa

December 11, 2024

The Executive Director of the Centre for Public Opinion and Awareness (CenPOA) claims that President Akufo-Addo is the worst president in our history.

Michael Donyina Mensah feels that the outgoing president’s terrible record extends beyond Ghana and into Africa.

He stated that the president has failed to keep the commitments he made to Ghanaians.

He posited that although he will not dispute that President Akufo-Addo may have contributed to Ghana’s growth, assessing his record based on his own promises is a massive failure.

He said Ghanaians were convinced that President Akufo-Addo was a man of integrity, credibility, and honesty, but it has emerged that he is a man who lacks the ability to deliver on his own promises.

He spoke on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, stressing that the record of Akufo-Addo is nothing to write home about.

“Truth be told, President Akufo-Addo campaigned by labelling President-elect John Dramani Mahama as corrupt. He campaigned on the depreciation of the cedi. But after winning power, these things have not changed. Corruption has worsened. The cedi keeps depreciating against the dollar. So if Akufo-Addo has constructed a hospital somewhere and Ghanaians want to use that as a yardstick to credit him, I would be surprised.

Mahama constructed hospitals. Infrastructure was not a major challenge for Mahama, yet he was voted out. He was voted out due to corruption and the economy, and so if you take over, fail to deal with corruption and restore hope in the economy, and you start commissioning projects and you want us to commend you, I don’t see the need to do so. If it was about commissioning, we would not have kicked Mahama out because we named him as the Commissioner General.

So if you should assess him based on my analysis, I can state categorically that Nana Akufo-Addo is a failed president. He has failed in delivering on his promises. The shocking aspect is that the promise to build a cathedral for God has also not been achieved despite using state resources. There is nothing to convince me that Nana Addo has achieved anything. He is a failed president. It would be difficult to identify a single thing that President Akufo-Addo has achieved. I am measuring by his own promises.”
