Member of Parliament for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim, has posited that the outcome of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections represents rejection of an evil government that tormented the citizens.
He asserted that Ghanaians voted the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) out because it became insensitive, reckless, and failed to listen to the people.
The government he stated worsened the poor living conditions of the people, and when the elections were organised, the citizens protested and voted them out.
He made the remarks in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.
The lawmaker said, “I want to first thank God for the victory and then extend my gratitude to the people of Ghana for the massive endorsement they have given the NDC. I am glad they accepted good over evil. The Bible even affirms that he who knows good and chooses evil has sinned. So the victory is divine.
We told Ghanaians to assess their situation and vote in the elections, and clearly they did that. This is unprecedented. The outcome of the elections will serve as a lesson to politicians. If you deprive the people, they will vote against you in a decisive manner.”
The results he added place a greater responsibility on the incoming Mahama-led administration, and so, they cannot fail the people of Ghana.
“I see this massive endorsement by the Ghanaian people from a different perspective. It was a divine intervention from God because the core objective of Nana Akufo-Addo was to sell Ghana to his family. What was happening under him was a state capture. He wanted to capture the country as his private entity. But Ghanaians prayed against it, and because God was also against it, he allowed the people to vote them out of power in this decisive manner. The policy of state capture was not from God, and so God dismantled it and gave the NDC an absolute majority.”
