The Director of Operations for the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah, has declared that the exit of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Akufo-Addo represents the second independence of Ghana.
He stated that the exit of former President Akufo-Addo represents an end to an evil, greedy, reckless, and wicked leader.
Divine Nkrumah posited that never in history has he witnessed such a divisive and authoritarian leader like Akufo-Addo.
He accused him of suppressing freedom of speech and press freedom.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Nkrumah noted that the vote for President-elect John Dramani Mahama was an affirmation of the anger of Ghanaians.
He opined that the failure and mess created by the NPP has whitewashed all the flaws of Mr. Mahama.
He said the incompetence of Akufo-Addo has proven that Mr. Mahama was a superior leader who did better when he was in power.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that “I feel relieved. Ghanaians feel relieved. The inaugural event is something I am excited about. It signifies an end to an error and an end to a mistake we committed. We committed an error by voting for former President Akufo-Addo. His presidency was a presidency of wickedness.
His end of term signifies our second freedom and independence. Under his watch, he suppressed free speech. People could not criticise him because he was reckless and purely wicked.
We voted overwhelmingly for Mahama because of the evils of Akufo-Addo. The evils committed by the NPP have whitewashed the flaws of Mahama and made him a saint. We called Mahama incompetent, but little did we know that that of Akufo-Addo was a mess. We can only pray and hope that never in our history should we get another president like Akufo-Addo. We should always remember and document this history and tell it to the next generation that we once had a wicked, reckless, and incompetent president who was divisive and took Ghana backwards for more than 20 years.”
He added, “I want to stress that we do not want a repeat of this wicked leadership. We are hopeful and praying that the reset promised by Mr. Mahama will work in the interest of citizens”.
