The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has refuted social media reports of a bushfire near the Akosombo Dam.
It has therefore called for calm following the viral video on social media.
According to a statement issued by the GNFS, the fire was not near the dam as reported.
“We wish to set the record straight that the fire seen in the video is absolutely nowhere near the Akosombo Dam. However, we acknowledge that the situation is still being closely monitored by our personnel, who have been put on high alert.”
The GNFS also deployed personnel to the dam to monitor the situation and respond promptly to any developments.
It further advised the Ghanaian public to avoid activities that could cause bushfires.
