The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment has announced plans to establish job centres in every district across the country.
Mr. George Opare Addo explained that this decision forms part of efforts to create employment opportunities for young people.
He was speaking in a media interview during a working visit to the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The minister assured Ghanaians that he remains committed to decentralising job centres nationwide.
The move he noted will help facilitate job creation and improve access to employment resources for the youth.
He was optimistic that decentralising job placement services will help young people receive career guidance, training, and direct links to employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
“The assurance I am going to give is that President Mahama is going to work hard to reposition the YEA as a place where young people can seek refuge anytime they are seeking job opportunities and training.
“We have a similar policy in our manifesto and so our assurance to them is that, we going to scale it up so that we have similar centres in all districts. The job centres should be closer to the person who seeks the job for young people to easily access it and the opportunities made available to them.”
