A family has declined to accept the remains of their deceased daughter and has requested that her fiancé retain the body until he completes certain rituals before her burial.
According to reports, the middle-aged man had been in a relationship with the deceased as well as two other related females, which the family deemed a taboo.
Consequently, the family has demanded that the man provide compensation of GHC30,000, in addition to three sheep and three bottles of schnapps.
The sheep and schnapps are intended for purification rituals before the family will accept the deceased’s remains.
The incident occurred in Bayerebon Domiabra, Atwima Mponua District, Ashanti Region, Ghana.
Reporting on the story, Kofi Gyabaah stated on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that the family had previously warned the man about his relationships with the three relatives, considering it sacrilegious.
Although the man has provided the sheep and schnapps, he has requested additional time to gather the necessary resources to pay the GHC30,000 fine.
