The Atta Mills Institute has changed its name to MILLS, Mindset, Integrity, Loyalty, Leadership & Service Institute, as part of its strategic move to focus on a mindset transformation agenda.
The Atta Mills Institute (AMI) was originally established as a Mindset Transformation Public Policy Advocacy Think Tank, but for good reason, focused on building the legacy of the late President Atta Mills via two monuments: Asomdwe Park and a Memorial Library at Ekumfi Otuam, the founder, Koku Anyidoho, explained.He disclosed this to Rainbowradioonline.com after it emerged that the name had changed from AMI to MILLS.
AMI was established some ten years ago as a duly registered think tank and had its core mandate as Civic Education and Public Policy Advocacy—and it is based on its main mandate that attention has been given to the school via a facelift in order to support teaching and learning.Since its establishment about ten years ago, AMI has launched several charity projects.
As the Atta-Mills Institute (AMI) celebrated its ten-year journey in 2022 and as part of a series of activities to mark the 10th Anniversary of the passing-on to glory of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, two significant projects were commissioned for the people of Gonteng, a rural community sitting in the belly of the Aburi Mountains.
On Thursday, January 20, 2022, Founder and CEO of the AMI, Mr. Samuel Koku Anyidoho, supported by Mr. Samuel Awuku, former Director General of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), commissioned a newly constructed corn and cassava mill facility and also commissioned completed renovation works on a 3-classroom block government school.In 2021, the Institute donated to the YOA Disability Foundation, based in Dansoman, Accra, to mark the 77th birthday of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills.
The YOA Disability Foundation, which has its headquarters on the premises of the Resurrection Power and Living Streams Ministry Church in Dansoman, supports children suffering from cerebral palsy.
The Achimota School and Royal Seed Home also benefitted from donations from the Institute.AMI also, in its operations, was invited by ECOWAS on several occasions to observe elections, including the one held in Benin in 2021.The team was in Benin to observe the country’s presidential elections scheduled to take place on April 11, 2021.
This was the second international election monitoring assignment by the AMI after an earlier one it undertook between 14th and 20th October 2020, as part of an ECOWAS Observer Team to observe the presidential and provincial elections in Guinea Conakry.In 2020, the AMI was accredited as one of the 27 local and international observer groups mandated to observe Ghana’s December 07 presidential and parliamentary elections, which were deemed to have been free and fair by all the teams.After successfully achieving these positive impacts, AMI has finally changed its name to reflect its current objectives and focus.
Mr. Anyidoho, responding to reasons why the name change was stated, said that’the Atta-Mills Institute was set up as a Mindset Transformation Public Policy Advocacy Think Tank, but for good reason, focused on building the legacy of the late President Atta-Mills via two monuments: Asomdwe Park and a Memorial Library at Ekumfi Otuam. With the change of name, the MILLS Institute is now anchored solely to the original purpose of Mindset Development/Transformation for nation building.’’
