Some students have reportedly sustained injuries after a peace ceremony between Bawku Senior High School and Bawku Technical Institute turned violent on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Five of the students are said to have suffered serious injuries, whereas the others sustained minor injuries.
The event was held at the Bawku Technical Institute by management in collaboration with Kpalwega traditional rulers to resolve ongoing clashes between students of the two schools.
The traditional rulers, according to the details, proposed the burial of an okra stick to symbolise unity and reconciliation.
However, the event turned violent, leading to students throwing stones at each other.
Personnel from the Bawku Divisional Police Command were deployed to the scene to help maintain law and order.
The injured students were transported to the Quality and Vineyard hospitals in Bawku for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the ceremony has been completed with the participation of the senior prefects from both schools.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) supervised the event to ensure it was successful.
