President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that he will reduce the number of presidential staffers.
Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, 27th February, 2025, in Parliament, he said this forms part of efforts to ensure prudent spending.
He said he will not behave like the previous administration that appointed more staffers, a situation that led to unnecessary expenditure.
Mr. Mahama posited that the reduction in the number of presidential staffers will not affect efficiency.
“We cannot continue to run a government where the cost of administration outweighs the benefits to the people. My government will take decisive steps to reduce the number of presidential staffers to promote efficiency and accountability,” he stated.
“A smaller, more competent team is what we need to drive our development agenda. We must cut down on bureaucracy and focus on delivering results that positively impact the lives of Ghanaians,” President Mahama assured.
