President John Dramani Mahama has relieved the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, of his position.
The removal of the IGP from office forms part of ongoing security sector reforms under his administration.
COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno will take over from the outgoing IGP.
He is expected to act as the new IGP starting tomorrow, Friday, March 14. Dr. Akuffo Dampare was appointed IGP in 2021 by former President Akufo-Addo.
