Unknown gunmen have allegedly opened fire on a group returning from a prayer session in Kukpalgu, in the Tatale-Sanguli District of the Northern Region.
The incident has led to the death of a pregnant woman, Rainbowradioonline.com has gathered.
Details emerging indicate that the pregnant woman was shot in the stomach and died on the spot.
Two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
It remains unclear why the shooting incident occurred, but some residents have linked the incident to the recent appointment of a non-Dagomba as District Chief Executive (DCE).
The appointment of nominees for the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) is said to have led to tensions.
Residents of Zabzugu have called for a native to be appointed. Residents have therefore appealed to authorities to provide security to prevent further attacks.
This is not the first incident that has occurred in the area. One person was killed with several others sustaining injuries in a clash between hunters and farmers on February 20, 2025.
