She was responding to the number of deaths recorded for the period while expressing worry over the figure and that of adults.

She also revealed that the number of deaths involving adults for the same period was 2,181, representing 87 per cent of the total number of deaths recorded.

Mrs Hannah Biamah Baafi Gunn told host Kwabena Agyapong that per the figures, 300 children die from road accidents annually.

”Between January and December 2024, 313 children died in road accidents, accounting for 13% of the total number of deaths recorded. The figure for adults was 2,181, representing 87%. The trend is nearly identical each year, implying that 300 children are killed in traffic accidents annually.”

The breakdown of the figure for the deaths recorded among the population for males was higher than for females, saying that about 80 percent of those who died were men, meaning out of 100 accident-related deaths, 80 were men.

Breaking down the vehicles involved, she said there were 7,804 commercial vehicles involved in accidents, 9,687 private vehicles, and 5,484 motorcycles, including ‘aboboyaa’, motorking, and others.
