Minsiter in Charge of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that more than 5,000 chip embedded passports are being distributed via courier across the country.

The Minister stated that this first of a kind initiative will help address the situation where individuals who had applied for their passports refused to collect them.

According to him, he inherited inherited over 70,000 uncollected passports but this initiative will help address that.
The Minister joined officials from the Ghana Post Company on Friday May 9, 2025 to deliver the new chip-embedded passports to Ghanaians who applied for their passports less than two weeks ago.

For the first time, passports are being delivered to Ghanaians wherever and whenever they need them.
The stress of returning to Passport Application Centres to pick up passports is no more.

It was an amazing experience yesterday joining Ghana Post to deliver our new chip-embedded passports to Ghanaians who applied for their passports less than two weeks ago.
More than 5,000 new chip-embedded passports are being delivered via courier in all 16 regions of Ghana this week.

With this intervention, we have ended the phenomenon of uncollected passports due to frustration and inconvenience (remember I inherited over 70,000 uncollected passports).
This is what we mean by resetting.
We keep our promises. ???????? ????????
