President John Dramani Mahama has declared no further disciplinary action against Sammy Gyamfi, acting CEO of Ghana Gold Board, over a viral video involving him and Nana Agradaa.
Sammy Gyamfi has faced criticism after a viral video surfaced showing him handing an undisclosed amount of U.S. dollars to self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
After the video which viral, several individuals, civil society organisation and the New Patriotic Party called for either his suspension or dismissal.
They accused him of a potential breach of Ghana’s Foreign Exchange Act and the Code of Conduct for public appointees.
However, President Mahama has decided to accept Mr. Gyamfi’s public apology and conclude the matter with a warning. Minister of
Addressing journalists at the Jubilee House,
Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated that President Mahama has accepted the apology from Mr. Sammy Gyamfi.
He also announced that, although the incident is regrettable, no further action will be taken.
He added that a warning has been issued to Mr. Gyamfi and all public appointees to strictly adhere to the Code of Conduct and act in a manner that upholds public confidence at all times.
