W/R: NADMO boss calls for a forensic audit after a warehouse containing relief items is looted

June 23, 2025
Nadmo

The Western Region’s National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) warehouse, which stores relief supplies for disaster victims, has been reportedly looted under dubious circumstances.

The stolen items include over 50 sacks of rice, gallons of vegetable oil, plastic buckets, soap, and other vital supplies intended for flood victims across the region.

According to Mr Daniel Darlington Attiso, the Western Regional Director, the incident has depleted the stock of food and non-food relief items, raising concerns about NADMO’s capacity to respond to emergencies, particularly during the peak rainy season.

Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he noted that they discovered the looting incident during a familiarisation tour of the facility.

He claimed that the warehouse was looted twice, in December 2024 and April 2025, under questionable circumstances that warrant urgent investigation.

“The looting has left NADMO’s Western Regional office critically low on food supplies, posing a serious threat to our emergency response capacity during this flood-prone period,” he stated.

He has therefore called for a comprehensive forensic audit to determine the circumstances surrounding the thefts and identify those behind the crime so they are prosecuted.

He also revealed that the warehouse does not have any security cameras, which could have easily identified those who looted the facility.

‘’It is so shocking that the padlock to the warehouse was not damaged or that there was any forced entry, but the facility had been looted more than once. Those who engaged in this criminal activity ought to be fished out and prosecuted.”

He told the news team that the caretaker is also being questioned, and if possible, a new person will be hired, adding that the Police CID has taken over the investigation.
