Re-introducing the God-factor For Nation Building Via National Day of Prayer And Thanksgiving Very Good – Koku Anyidoho

June 30, 2025
Koku Anyidoho

The Founder and CEO of the MILLS (Mindset, Integrity, Loyalty, Leadership & Service) Institute, has highly applauded the reintroduction of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, scheduled for tomorrow, July 1st, 2025.

Speaking on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Coalition of Nation Builders (CNB) during their monthly Thought Leadership Series, Mr. Anyidoho emphasized the importance of this decision. “I am very happy that we are reintroducing the God-factor in our nation-building process because it is very important not to leave God out of any genuine desire to move our developmental agenda on a righteous path,” he stated.

According to the Founder of the MILLS Institute for Transformational Leadership Development, God was fully visible in all of Ghana’s national symbols (Anthem, Flag, Motto, Coat-of-Arms, and Pledge) at the nation’s birth in 1957. He argued that it is wrong for the national mindset to deviate from the importance of placing God at the center of Ghana’s growth process.

“We are talking about the Almighty God and not any religion per se,” Koku Anyidoho clarified. “We have God in our Anthem, we have God in our Pledge, the cross is very visible in our Coat-of-Arms, so who says that God must not be very much alive in our hearts and minds?”

Koku Anyidoho further explained that as a trained Theologian, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had a deep spiritual awakening, leading to his understanding of God’s importance in nation-building. As Ghana’s first President, Nkrumah oversaw the positioning of God in all State Symbols, and his vision for Ghana and Africa was far ahead of its time.

“It is very clear in the Bible that Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of God’s Throne. So, our Freedom and Justice motto is akin to that of the Throne of God, except that we are more interested in the Freedom and not the Justice,” he added.

As a close aide and Spokesperson to the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, Koku Anyidoho recounted how the late President firmly placed God at the heart of the governance process, leading to his introduction of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.

“It was held in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and President Mills obviously did not hide the fact that he was only a vessel of God for Ghana, and we saw the positive results on the economy. So, I thank God that as a nation, we are going back to what we started, and I believe that it will impact the nation positively,” he remarked.

The Coalition of Nation Builders holds a monthly Thought Leadership Series on “Mindset Transformation: God-factor In Nation Building,” where Mr. Samuel Koku Anyidoho serves as the Lead Voice among other contributors.

Koku Anyidoho also commended President John Mahama for re-establishing July 1st as a national public holiday. “Our Republic Day is extremely important, and we cannot just relegate it to the background; we must celebrate it with utmost joy but ensure that we use the day to entrench a nationalistic/patriotic mindset that will hold fast our identity and values as a People.”
