Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, Member of Parliament for the Pru East constituency, has welcomed the deployment of police patrols on a critical road stretch connecting Southern Ghana to Northern Ghana.
This road, vital for trade and commerce, passes through several constituencies and is crucial for transporting goods, particularly food, from the northern regions to the southern parts of the country.
During a parliamentary session, Hon. Kwaku Boam questioned the Minister of Roads and Highways on the immediate and long-term interventions planned for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Ejura-Yeji Highway, aiming to ensure the safety of motorists and commuters.
The Honourable Member expressed satisfaction with the minister’s response and anticipates seeing tangible rehabilitation works on the roads in the Pru East constituency soon.
The MP also extended gratitude to the Minister of Interior for addressing the security concerns on the road, which had been plagued by unruly behaviour. The increased police presence has already yielded positive results, with two incidents involving unruly individuals being neutralised.
Hon. Boam is eager to see major maintenance works commence on the road, which has been in a deplorable state for over two decades. The improved security situation is expected to boost economic activity in the area, particularly at the local market, an important hub for trade.
