A man, believed to be in his twenties, has allegedly murdered a 69-year-old landlord at Kansaworodo near Takoradi under bizarre circumstances.
The suspect, who is believed to be mentally deranged, allegedly used a knife to kill the landlord, Francis Quarm, also known as Gabo.
He is said to have committed the offense in the room of the deceased landlord.
It was reported that the suspect screamed, “I need blood!” while using the knife to stab the landlord and consume his blood.
Some neighbors in the area rushed to the scene after hearing the screams in the early morning of July 16, 2025.
According to some eyewitnesses, they saw the suspect licking the blood of the deceased from the knife he used in allegedly stabbing him.
Further details emerging also indicate that the landlord was asleep when the suspect entered his room and allegedly stabbed him to death.
The suspect was also said to be aggressive, making it impossible for neighbors to enter the room.
Paulina Quarm, the daughter of the deceased, speaking to journalists, stated that it took one courageous young man who overpowered the suspect, but it was too late since the landlord had already passed.
The assembly member for the area, George Cobbinah, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was living in the area.
According to him, the young man has been exhibiting disturbing behavior due to drug abuse. The suspect, a day before the incident, assaulted his mother, leaving her with serious injuries, and she was admitted to the hospital for medical care.
The suspect has since been arrested and is currently in the custody of the police.
