Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, Member of Parliament for Pru East, raised a pressing concern about the fraudulent activities of QNet, which has been scamming and trafficking Ghanaian youths to Côte d’Ivoire and other neighbouring countries.
He asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs to provide information on the actions taken by the ministry to ensure the safe rescue and repatriation of these victims.
Hon. Boam expressed concern about the safety of the victims, many of whom have lost contact with their families.
He sought details on the ministry’s efforts to rescue and repatriate the victims, particularly in targeted areas where the scams are prevalent.
Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam has expressed deep concerns about the QNet scams affecting young men and women in his constituency.
He highlighted that about 30 young people in his constituency have fallen victim to the scam.
According to Hon Boam, the victims often lose contact with their families, making it difficult to track them down.
In a shocking revelation, he stated that a teacher in his constituency who has sold his house and gathered money from family members is among the victims who cannot be found.
Hon. Boam urged the Minister of Foreign Affairs to consider extensive collaboration with local authorities and communities to identify targeted areas where the scams are prevalent, rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice, and also raise awareness about the dangers of QNet scams and human trafficking.
Hon. Boam emphasised the urgent need for a solution, as the fate of many victims remains unknown, and their families are left in distress. He sought the minister’s assistance in getting the victims back to the country and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
