The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday, 24th July 2025, to assess the situation and determine immediate action.

Following this meeting, REGSEC resolved as follows:

1. No motorbikes shall be permitted on the roads after 7:00pm until further notice.

2. The use of unlicensed motorbikes or motorbikes without lights is strictly prohibited.

3. The ongoing inter-tribal football competition is to be suspended with immediate effect until further notice.

4. No motorbike rider is permitted to wear a smock until further notice, as it has become an avenue for suspects to conceal weapons.

The Council has also announced that there would be an increased security presence (police and military) in hotspot areas.

It assured the general public of the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order and fostering a peaceful society.

“Additionally, there will be increased security presence in hotspot areas, involving both the police and military, to ensure peace and protect lives and property.

The REGSEC assures the general public of the government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and fostering a peaceful society. All necessary measures are being implemented to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice.”

Meanwhile, the Council in the statement, which was signed by Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene, appealed to the public to assist the police with ongoing investigations by providing credible information that can help in apprehending those behind the incident.

“We also urge the public to support the ongoing investigations. The doors of the Security Services remain open to receive credible information that can assist in identifying and apprehending those responsible.

The REGSEC remains ready and committed to serving the public in line with its mandate.”
