The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has its tribute to the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah as “utterly fearless” and more than a political strategist.
In the tribute which was delivered by NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on behalf of the party during the interdenominational state funeral on Friday, August 15, 2025.
He also eulogised him for his contributions towards national development.
“He was one of those brave young activists who personally went to printing houses to monitor the ballot printing process during elections, ensuring the sanctity of the vote. As part of a vibrant youth wing, they regularly met in the late President Mills’ office at Kuku Hill, where strategies were shaped and the future of the party was charted.
Dr Omane Boamah’s service to Ghana spanned several high-profile roles. Between 2009 and 2012, he served as Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology under the late President John Evans Atta Mills.”
Dr Omane Boamah was among eight people who died in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
The crash also claimed the lives of Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East Samuel Aboagye; NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong; and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
